Surrey Schools celebrates staff on Administrative Professionals’ Day
Today, on Administrative Professionals’ Day, and every day, Surrey Schools celebrates the administrative staff who keep our district running smoothly.
Whether it’s school secretaries, administrative assistants, office clerks or all the other administrative staff who play crucial roles in the daily operations of the district, we extend our sincerest appreciation for your tireless effort and dedication.
“On behalf of the Surrey Board of Education, I want to thank all of our administrative staff for their unwavering commitment and hard work in ensuring the district is always ready to meet the needs of students and families,” said Laurie Larsen, Chair of the Surrey Board of Education.
At Kirkbride Elementary, Principal Jagdeep Dhaliwal credits her office staff as the foundational support of the school.
“They’re often the first responders to parents and staff whenever something is needed,” she said. “If there’s ever an incident, our office staff are the ones that help us navigate that.”
Dhaliwal said a school’s office staff is the face of the school for many parents, caregivers and other members of the community when it comes to interacting with the school.
They are indispensable to the smooth operation of a school or program,” she said. “They’re the first point of contact for students, parents, and visitors, setting the tone for a welcoming and professional environment.”
Beyond their role in managing communications and handling inquiries, administrative staff also coordinate the logistical tasks that keep the school functioning efficiently—from maintaining student records and managing appointments to assisting with event planning and handling emergencies.
“Their roles allow our teachers and support staff to focus on teaching supporting students, so students can learn. They really are the backbone of the school community – their contributions are vital, ensuring that the school operates seamlessly each day.”
When it comes time to hold events like special assemblies, celebrations or decorate for an upcoming holiday, Dhaliwal said it’s the administrative staff who make sure everything is in place.
“They play a crucial role in allowing us to do our jobs,” she said. “Everyone has a role to play when it comes to how we support the children of our community and all of it is made possible thanks to our office staff.”
Thank you to all of the administrative professionals around the district!
