SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM TEACHER

1. DESCRIPTION OF SCHOOL LEVEL DELIVERY MODEL

The Social Development Program Teacher will:

a) teach students in need of intensive behavioural support in an elementary class with limited enrolment

b) work collaboratively with child care workers and  behaviour specialists;

c) help children develop more socially acceptable behaviour;

d) design and implement individual education programs, as well as devise program evaluative strategies.

Many students in this program exhibit overtly aggressive and hostile behaviours expressed directly toward the teacher.

2. MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

a) valid B. C. Teaching Certificate;

b) minimum of two years satisfactory teaching experience;

c) course work or experience in working with students in need of intensive behavioural support who require individual educational programs and in collaborating with child care workers to develop corrective programs for children experiencing behaviour difficulties.

3. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Experience in dealing with students in need of intensive behavioural support.

4. REPORTING STRUCTURE

The personnel in this position are accountable in the execution of their assigned duties to the  school principal.
