Energy Management & Sustainability     

Advancing sustainability in Surrey Schools' operations and overseeing energy management across the district's portfolio of over 135 buildings. 

We develop strategic long-term goals that help reduce our environmental impact, supporting the district's commitment to environmental stewardship. 

The department is responsible for:

  • Coordinating energy management and sustainability activities with the active participation of site personnel at key locations.
  • Identifying cost-effective energy efficiency and conservation measures
  • Applying for incentives and grants to support energy efficiency and green house gas reduction projects.
  • Continually monitoring building energy performance. 
  • Reporting annually on the energy use and greenhouse gas emissions of the district.
  • Developing strategies to achieve energy and sustainability targets.  
  • Engaging staff and students through energy saving and environmental awareness campaigns.
  • Supporting operational staff to improve building energy efficiency and overall sustainability with information and training.
