LEARNING CENTRE COUNSELLOR

1. DESCRIPTION OF SCHOOL LEVEL DELIVERY MODEL

The Learning Centre Counsellor will:

a) provide personal/social counselling to re-entry students;

b) provide direct service to families;

c) act as advocate on behalf of students and families;

d) provide educational counselling;

e) provide career/vocational counselling;

f) facilitate conferencing with program teachers regarding individual cases;

g) act as liaison with program staff members and community agencies;

2. MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

a) a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology or equivalent;

b) a Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent;

c) valid B.C. Teaching Certificate;

d) minimum of two years satisfactory teaching experience.

3. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Recent satisfactory instructional and/or therapeutic counselling experience with secondary level re-entry students.

4.  REPORTING STRUCTURE

The personnel in this position are accountable in the execution of their assigned duties to 

the principal at the Learning Centre to which they are assigned.
