Surrey Board of Education re-elects chair and vice-chair
The Surrey Board of Education has elected its chair and vice-chair for the next year.
Trustees Laurie Larsen and Gary Tymoschuk, who held the roles for the past year, were both nominated and acclaimed for the roles.
“Thank you to the board for your continued support,” said Larsen shortly after being named chair. “I am honored to continue serving as chair, and together with my fellow trustees, I am committed to fostering an inclusive, innovative, and supportive learning environment for our community.”
"Our focus will remain on empowering students, collaborating with our community, and ensuring that every child receives a quality education that prepares them for a bright future. I look forward to working closely with all stakeholders to uphold the values of excellence, equity, and engagement within our district.
The current Surrey Board of Education was sworn in last year after being elected to serve the Surrey School District in B.C.’s 2022 General Local Elections.
“Serving as a school trustee is a responsibility we approach with utmost dedication,” said Vice-Chair Tymoschuk. “I am excited about the journey ahead and the positive impact we can collectively make on the lives of our students and the broader educational community.
