Surrey Schools opens another new school: Regent Road Elementary!

The 2022-23 school year is set to kick off with a change in scenery for families living the Surrey-Clayton area, thanks to the opening of a brand-new school in their neighbourhood.

Regent Road Elementary, located in the 18700-block of 74 Avenue is the latest school to open in the district and will serve the students and families in the Clayton Heights area, including those who moved from Clayton Elementary. 

Regent Road Elementary has 27 classrooms that can accommodate up to 655 kindergarten to Grade 7 students. The new school will also feature a modern design with learning commons spaces that open to the main entryway to create a more welcoming feel.

“We’re always thrilled when we open a new school in our growing district,” said Laurie Larsen, chair of the Surrey Board of Education. “Regent Road Elementary, with its bright, modern spaces and design, will provide endless opportunities and inspiration for students for years to come.”

Principal Byron Gammel couldn’t be more excited.

“It’s a once-in-a-career opportunity that you get to welcome the first year of students and staff into a brand-new school, and I’m very excited to be here at the beginning to help lay the foundation of Regent Road’s story with this wonderful community,” said Gammel.
