Social Studies

The overarching goal of social studies is "to develop graduates who have the skills, knowledge, and competencies to be active, informed citizens". To create such citizens teachers, problematize content and teach students to master discipline specific critical thinking competencies such as historical, geographic and economic thinking to uncover the big ideas of social studies. Throughout the district, teachers are engaging students in inquiry-based learning leading to authentic showcases of their learning. Teachers are also finding innovative ways of infusing technology in the classroom to enrich, customize and personalize learning.
