Traditional (K-7)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Traditional schools offer a unique educational experience within the Surrey School District. These schools share a common set of values, including citizenship, responsibility, respect, and academic excellence. Students attending traditional schools are required to wear a crested uniform dress code, which helps to create a sense of community and pride.

In addition to the uniform dress code, traditional schools also offer current, effective research-based teaching practices that support all learners in achieving their highest potential. The schools believe that high standards and expectations, both in school and at home, are essential for students to reach their individual goals. Clear expectations for behavior are communicated through a school code of conduct, which creates a respectful and responsible learning environment for students.

Traditional schools also recognize the importance of parental involvement in a student's education. They believe that the goals of the school community are best met when parents support the school and work closely with the Parent Advisory Council (PAC). An engaged parent community is essential to the success of each traditional school.
