Recognizing school leadership for Principals & Vice-Principals Appreciation Day
May 1 is Principals & Vice-Principals Appreciation Day, a day to celebrate our school leaders for the work they do 365 days a year for students, staff and parents throughout the district.
While this year’s PVPs Appreciation Day falls on a Sunday, we hope our students and staff take some time this coming week to acknowledge the importance of our administrators, who lead our schools year after year and ensure they remain safe and healthy learning environments.
“On behalf of our entire board, we wish to recognize all of our principals and vice-principals for their leadership, day in and day out, at all of our schools,” said Surrey Board of Education Chair Laurie Larsen. “It is their management skills, experience and compassion that give students and staff a sense of direction as we navigate the challenges of each and every school year, and we thank them for their guidance.”
“Our principals and vice-principals exhibit a steadfast commitment to learning for all of our students, from the first day of school to the last,” said Superintendent Mark Pearmain. “While we cannot thank them enough for the work that they do, we hope that a day such as this will give them the celebration and admiration they so greatly deserve.”
With 103 elementary schools, 21 secondary schools and five learning centres, the district has hundreds of principals and vice-principals who oversee day-to-day operations at our schools. From students entering their first day of kindergarten to Grade 12s looking ahead to post-secondary life, our school leaders are a driving force in the lives of our more than 74,000 students throughout Surrey, White Rock and Barnston Island.
We encourage all of our students and staff to show their principals and vice-principals appreciation every day – whether it’s making a card or just saying thank you! We know they will appreciate it!
For all the work that you do, principals and vice-principals, thank you for your ongoing efforts at all of our schools!
