20 Surrey students shortlisted for 2025 Schulich Leader STEM scholarships
The nominees are in, and 20 secondary students from across Surrey and White Rock are in the running for this year’s Schulich Leader Scholarships, worth an astounding $100,000 to $120,000 each.
One Grade 12 student from almost every secondary school in the district is among this year’s 1,500 nominees, shortlisted from more than 300,000 applicants. The six-figure scholarship is for students who demonstrate a passion for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
This year’s Surrey Schools nominees are:

- 2022: Maya Rink, Panorama Ridge Secondary; Ami Rai, SAIL; and Sarthak Tyagi, Queen Elizabeth Secondary
- 2023: Mohammad Awwad, North Surrey Secondary
Later this school year, the Schulich Leaders will select just 100 scholars. Half of the scholarships are valued at $120,000 for engineering, the other half are valued at $100,000 for science and math.
