“We prepare our learners to think creatively and critically, communicate skillfully, and demonstrate care for self and others” - Surrey Board of Education vision statement.
With a new school year upon us, the Surrey Board of Education welcomes both new and returning families!
“We are once again excited to open our doors to students, parents and staff for what is sure to be another great school year,” said board chair Laurie Larsen. “Whether you’ve been here before or you’re a newcomer to Surrey and White Rock, our school communities strive to be inviting, inclusive and safe spaces for all.”
Like all public school districts in B.C., Surrey Schools is overseen by an elected board of trustees, which is tasked with making decisions about the delivery of educational services, ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent effectively and efficiently, establishing policy, liaising with partners and community members, and much more.
The Surrey Board of Education is elected by the citizens of Surrey and White Rock every four years and is comprised of seven officials:
- Laurie Larsen – Chair
- Gary Tymoschuk – Vice-chair
- Terry Allen – Trustee
- Bob Holmes - Trustee
- Laurae McNally - Trustee
- Garry Thind - Trustee
