Did you know Fraser Health, the regional health authority for Surrey and White Rock, has age-appropriate youth clinics for teens and young adults to learn more about sexual health care from specially trained nurses and doctors?
Youth clinics are judgment-free, confidential and LGBTQ2S+ friendly, with some sites having access to a counsellor or social worker. The clinics offer various free services (calling in advance to inquire is recommended), such as:
- Birth control education
- Birth control provision (free up to 19 years old or free by pharmacy prescription)
- Education on sexual health
- Free condoms
- Free emergency contraception/Plan B (up to 22 years old)
- Free Take-Home Naloxone kits
- Free harm reduction supplies
- Free pregnancy testing and options counselling
- STI (sexually transmitted infections) information, testing and free treatment
- HIV education
- HIV testing
- HIV PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) information and some enrollment access
This month, Fraser Health is launching a campaign to raise awareness of youth clinics and services for youth in the health region. The campaign was developed with feedback from youth focus groups, with the goal of ensuring young people have access to the sexual health care they need.
In Surrey and White Rock, clinics are at the following locations:
- Shirley Dean Pavilion – 9634 King George Blvd., Surrey
- Vine Youth Clinic – 15455 Vine Ave., White Rock
Other Fraser Health youth clinics are located in Abbotsford, Agassiz, Burnaby, Chilliwack, Hope, Maple Ridge, New Westminster and Port Moody. Clinic availability is subject to change and calling in advance is recommended. All sites offer drop-ins and appointments.
