Want to be an education assistant? Join our virtual info session Nov. 30
Surrey Community College is hosting a virtual information session on Tuesday, Nov. 30, for prospective education assistants to learn about our training program as well as career opportunities with the district.
Education assistants are integral members of our schools, working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support students with diverse learning needs, such as physical, health, social and emotional, sensory and learning challenges.
"The role of our education assistants is important in the lives of each and every one of our students with learning needs," Selma Smith, director of instruction with the district's Continuous Learning department. "As part of a student support team, they support students to reach their full potential and truly make a remarkable difference in their lives."
The upcoming virtual session will provide information on upcoming training for the education assistant diploma program, scheduled to begin on Jan. 31, 2022. The program can be taken during the daytime or in the evening with a practicum arranged by the college in Surrey Schools.
