Good morning Panthers!
The weather this week has been hot and sunny and it feels like summer is almost here! We have three weeks of regular classes remaining in the semester, followed by 4 “semester completion” days. As always, especially at this time of year, our school community is absolutely absorbed in learning and year-end traditions. It is a very important time for our students and staff. All students are reminded of the value of hard work and dedication to the very end of the semester. Your work ethic will directly influence your success! Make us proud Panthers!
I would like to congratulate Ms. Hockey, Ms. Jones and our entire cast and crew of our Panther Players Theatre Company. I had the chance to watch the closing performance of this year’s production “The Play that Goes Wrong”. The show was wonderful! Our students and staff have worked so hard to stage this ambitious physical comedy. I am very impressed with their talent and hard work. Way to go Panthers!
Also on Friday, was our final Grade 7 visit and tour. This has been such a positive and important initiative. I would like to recognize the many Leadership students who helped to host the tours. Your support and role-modelling were essential and greatly appreciated. Thank you!
It is National Accessibility Week. At Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary, we are very proud of the inclusive and accessible learning environment we have created. Our diversity is our strength and we celebrate all learners!
Monday was a Professional Development Day and many of our staff participated in a workshop focussed on Social Media and Artificial Intelligence. The pace of technological change is so rapid; and we are all working very hard to implement classroom and school-wide educational systems that take advantage of current tools to leverage teaching and learning. Great thanks to our Pro-D committee for organizing this session.
Our students have been practicing their skills with lunchtime soccer drills. They are very good!
Students in our Career Education Department have been achieving great success in their Work Experience placements.
We are also very proud of our scholarship recipients. Congratulations Neo!
On Tuesday, we had an opportunity to meet with our staff to review several year-end systems and traditions. We also had the opportunity to meet our new incoming Vice Principal Mr. Kelly. We know Mr. Kelly will be warmly welcomed into our learning community. Speaking of vice-principals, our team has been very busy with our new mobile attendance check-in! We remind all students to ensure you are in class and not in the hallways over the final 3 weeks. We will maintain our business-like, studious, productive and positive tone within our school community until the very end of the semester. Thank you Panthers!
This week, our students thanked and recognized our custodian CC with messages of gratitude. I was so impressed with their citizenship and school spirit. Thank you CC for all you do to support our school and keep Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary safe and clean!
On Wednesday, we finalized our plans for Dry Grad with the collection of students’ change of clothing for the big event. Our graduates are excited for the upcoming Dinner-Dance and Dry Grad on Friday evening. We know this will be a wonderful, safe and memorable celebration for our students and staff. Graduates are reminded that our “Red Carpet” Photo-op and mix and mingle will begin at 4pm in front of the school. Parents/guardians are welcome to join us and take in all of the graduation excitement!
Have an excellent Friday and a happy weekend. We’ll see you back at school on Monday. 😊

Traffic and Student Parking
All Panthers are reminded that traffic around the school and parking on school property will be very busy with our increased enrollment and Extended Day schedule. All student drivers are reminded that it is very important to drive with care and attention while on or near school property. Safety is our first priority. Please drive safely and responsibly, be aware of pedestrians, and follow all traffic regulations.
If possible, all families are asked to consider alternative transportation options. Please walk or bike to school if possible. It would also be helpful if students are dropped off a couple of blocks away from the school and vehicles do not enter our school’s parking lot.
Please note that this year, students are only permitted to park in the Student Lot on the right side of our parking lot near our Portable classrooms. Students are not permitted to park in the Staff Lot.
All students wishing to park on school property must apply for a Parking pass. Application forms may be picked up at the office. Students must park in their designated stall.
Parking passes must be displayed on your car’s windshield at all times while on school property. Parking privileges will be revoked for any students not following our parking regulations or for unsafe driving.
Thank you for your help and cooperation in responding to our increased traffic challenges and protecting the safety of our community members.
