Principal's Message May 6-10th
Good morning Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary!
We hope your week is going well and that your time at school has been rewarding. 😊 I’d like to recognize all students and staff for your commitment to our school community, learning and personal growth and development. I am constantly reminded of the importance of our work together, and the positive difference educators make in the community, our world and future society. At this time of year, as we complete the final term of the year and push towards year-end, our efforts are so critical. Great thanks to all Panthers for all you do. Students - keep up the good work… stay focussed… reflect on your goals… and finish strong!
On Wednesday we invited Mr. Dallas Yellowfly and his “3 Crows Production: Qwalena The Wild Woman Who Steals Children” Indigenous storytelling presentation to Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary. This was a powerful presentation performed for our Grade 11 and 12 students.
"Qwalena: The Wild Woman Who Steals Children", a multimedia First Nations storytelling presentation used as an allegory to explain the Canadian residential school system and Indian Act. His vision is to create awareness of Indigenous cultures, history, traditions and values especially to non-Indigenous audiences.
Thanks to all staff who helped prepare and host this presentation for our students and thanks to Dallas Yellowfly and the cast and crew of 3 Crows Production for your important work.
Also on Wednesday, several of our students participated in the District’s Black Student Union Leadership meeting at Salish Secondary. Great thanks to our students for representing Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary so well and providing your leadership and student voice to our community.
Today, our Cafeteria students, with the guidance and mentorship of Chef Buist and Assistant Elliott, will be participating in the annual Cloverdale Chili Cookoff! It promises to be a fun, busy and delicious day of culinary competition and good times. Good luck to all of our future chefs. Go Panthers!! I’m looking forward to tasting your recipes. 😊
The beautiful weather cooperated with us this morning as we took the opportunity to practice another Evacuation Drill. Thank you to all students and staff for your participation and serious commitment to this important exercise. The drill was carried out according to plan and was helpful in reinforcing this Health and Safety protocol.
Speaking of beautiful weather, our Math class recently took advantage of the day to learn mathematics while enjoying a sunny Spring morning.
Tomorrow we will be hosting George Greenaway Elementary’s Grade 7 class for another Grade 7 tour. The morning promises to be an active and informative visit to the school for our incoming Panthers and an excellent chance for our Senior students to practice their leadership skills. Again, thank you to our LTSS Student Council for all of your work in hosting these visits.
Parents/guardians are reminded that next Wednesday evening, May 15th at 7:00pm, we will be holding our final Parent Advisory Council meeting of the year. Everyone is invited to join us in the library to review the year, initiate planning for the next, and learn more about the school.
Have a great day tomorrow and enjoy your weekend. See you on Monday!

Traffic Safety
Traffic safety around Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary is a critical priority for our community. With increased enrollment, the number of vehicles navigating around and within our school grounds also increases. It is essential that all drivers are very cautious while driving near the school and are aware of the many student pedestrians who are nearby.
All students and parents/guardians are requested to consider the following:
- If possible, students - please walk and/or bike to school. Fewer vehicles attempting to drop off and/or pick up students will be very helpful.
- Consider dropping off/picking up 2-3 blocks away from the school and avoid the traffic congestion around the school.
- Consider drop-off/pick up earlier and/or later in the morning/afternoons to avoid peak traffic times.
Thank you for your help in protecting the safety of our students.
