Principal's Message April 1-5

This Week at Lord Tweedsmuir Thursday April 4th, 2024

Welcome back Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary!

Welcome back to the final term of the 23/24 school year.   I hope everyone has had a wonderful Spring Break and that you are rested and “ready to go”.  This is such a busy and important time of learning for our students, staff and school community.  The next three months will be full of new challenges, new learning success stories, recognition and special celebration traditions and much planning for the next school year.  Time will move very quickly… it will be June very soon!  With this, I encourage all Panthers to take advantage of all the many opportunities that our school provides.  Work hard, be at school every day, ask questions, strive toward success.   We are very proud of our amazing students and know that the final term of 23/24 will bring much reward.  Way to go Panthers!

We returned from our Spring Break and Easter long weekend to reconnect with friends, teachers, support staff and the Lord Tweedsmuir community.  There was an air of excitement within the school as students returned on Tuesday morning.   Great thanks to our staff for all of your assistance in helping structure our students’ transition back into the regular routines of school life.  Our school is up and running and we are all back in action.

This week the Admin team has been very focussed on initiating both the staffing process and the timetable building process for the 24/25 school year.  These important systems will be built over the next six months.  Thank you to all Department Heads for your input and feedback as we go through this work together.  As previously communicated to our community, Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary will be on an Extended Day bell schedule for next year.  Over the next few weeks we will gather additional feedback from staff, finalize our revised bell schedule, and share this with our community.

Just before the break our students celebrated St. Patrick’s Day.  Thank you to our student leaders for coordinating the fun!

It is now rugby season.  I recently had the chance to drop by and cheer on our Senior Boys Rugby team.  It was perfect weather for rugby.  Good luck to all rugby players on your season.

Have a great day tomorrow and enjoy your weekend.  See you on Monday!

Traffic Safety

1712243692926.png

Traffic safety around Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary is a critical priority for our community.  With increased enrollment, the number of vehicles navigating around and within our school grounds also increases.  It is essential that all drivers are very cautious while driving near the school and are aware of the many student pedestrians who are nearby.

All students and parents/guardians are requested to consider the following:

  • If possible, students - please walk and/or bike to school.  Fewer vehicles attempting to drop off and/or pick up students will be very helpful.
  • Consider dropping off/picking up 2-3 blocks away from the school and avoid the traffic congestion around the school.
  • Consider drop-off/pick up earlier and/or later in the morning/afternoons to avoid peak traffic times.

Thank you for your help in protecting the safety of our students.
