Surrey Schools Update - Social Media Posts - September 19, 2024
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Over the last two days, community members and students have submitted information and tips to the PSST (Protecting Surrey Schools Together) website about potential threats to student safety circulating on Snapchat. This is information is still being actively circulated amongst multiple students at multiple schools.
Surrey Schools is working closely with the RCMP who continue to monitor the situation closely. Despite determining the threats do not pose a credible risk to student safety, RCMP school resource officers will continue to periodically visit schools throughout the week.
Again, it is crucial that our students, families and community continue to alert school principals and trusted adults and/or report any threats to student safety on the PSST website.
Please know that that the PSST website is an immediate and important way for students and families to bring any messages and threats to the attention of their school community and RCMP. Reports can be made anonymously.
We recognize that younger students may have seen/heard about the details of this post.
Please discuss online safety with your child as necessary.
Thank you.
