Programs
There are a number of district programs offered at Bear Creek Elementary. These include:
- District Hard of Hearing Program
- Fast Forward Program for East area schools
- Aboriginal Child Care Worker
- Community-Schools Partnership
- Strong Start Program
Our school has a lunch program for those families in need of this service. In addition, we also have a Breakfast Program at Bear Creek.
Choice Programs
The Surrey School District offers several "Programs of Choice" that provide unique settings for students.
School Meal Programs
Each school day, the Surrey School Meal Programs strive to feed as many children as possible a nutritious meal. Without this food, these students might otherwise go hungry. Research has clearly shown children who have enough food to eat learn better and are healthier.
Aboriginal Programs
The Aboriginal Department supports school initiatives that focus on Aboriginal culture. The goal of this support is to increase Aboriginal content into the curriculum in a way that benefits all students.
Safe Schools
The Surrey School District is committed to providing safe and caring environments in which all learners can achieve academic excellence, personal growth and responsible citizenship.
The Fast ForWord program develops and strengthens memory, attention, processing rate, and sequencing—the cognitive skills essential for reading intervention program success. The strengthening of these skills results in a wide range of improved critical language and reading skills such as phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, decoding, working memory, syntax, grammar, and other skills necessary to learn how to read or to become a better reader.
The Community-Schools Partnership
The Community-Schools Partnership (C-SP) is an initiative of the Surrey School District in collaboration with municipal, funding and community partners to work alongside schools in addressing vulnerabilities creating opportunities for all children to flourish.
