Languages

We in the JH languages department believe that we have three purposes: to create relevant, authentic experiences; to show students that language is a living thing intrinsically related to culture, art, and daily life; and to spark  a lifelong passion for language learning and inspire students to explore, travel and seek out new opportunities and cultures in the world community.

Our values are: accuracy, authenticity, embracing technology, fun and creativity, infusing cultural experiences into the classroom, modeling a love of learning, sustainability and health.

Our foundational commitments are: to continually re-assess and improve our practices; to embrace change and lifelong learning; and to create a community of inquiry where students get inspired and take risks in a safe and respectful environment.
