Summer Learning

Program Description:

Surrey Schools has the second-largest Summer Learning program in the Lower Mainland with thousands of students spending several weeks in July and August adding to their learning.

There are five Summer Learning program options:

  1. Full Credit – full academic courses delivered in a condensed format 
  2. Preview / Review (formerly Academic Completion / Remedial) - courses for students who want to preview the course material or who have taken the course already and wish to increase their knowledge in preparation for the next grade level
  3. Enhancement/LEAD Program*
  4. Transitions - for students going from Grade 7 to Grade 8* (an opportunity for grade 7 students to get familiar with their September Secondary School -referred by the student's grade 7 home school)
  5. Elementary - Literacy & Numeracy, ELL, Early French Immersion and Late French Immersion*

* Only for Surrey School District students who are referred by their home school and meet the criteria to be enrolled in the summer programs.

Summer Learning is provided free of charge to students who normally reside in British Columbia. International students and students from other provinces and territories in Canada are charged a fee at the time of registration: $1,200 per full-credit course, $600 per Preview/Review, Enhancement, Transitions & Elementary courses.

SUMMER LEARNING K-7

Program Description:

Summer Learning is for K-7 students attending Surrey School District schools only.  Referrals are made by classroom Teachers.  Information will be available in April of each year from your classroom Teacher or school Principal.

SUMMER LEARNING 8-12

Program Description:

The Surrey School District offers a variety of summer learning opportunities for secondary students, including Full-Credit courses, Preview/Review courses and Skills & Trade programs.  These courses and programs take place at various sites across the District and run from July to August.
