Our School
Goals:
- MB Sanford takes pride in its tradition of creating a safe and respectful community in which all students can learn. To this end, staff work with energy and enthusiasm, supporting all learners and their families.
- The school has begun to implement the three major initiatives identified though the accreditation process:
- to develop students' critical thinking skills with the goal of enabling students to engage in critical analysis in social studies and science
- to improve instruction in computer technology through the more effective integration of computers into the curriculum
- to promote a level of collaboration and communication which builds deeper collegial relations by focusing on improvements in student performance in the area of social responsibility.
Accomplishments and Initiatives:
- Participant in network of performance-based schools
- Support for early literacy initiative through the coordinated introduction of the "ReadWell" (Grades 1-3) program
- Continuing success with the integration of social development and Grades 6-7, through the implementation of Virtues program and social responsibility performance standards
- Continuing funding support of school programs through school PAC (early literacy, music, computers and technology, library reading and sports)
- Fine arts focus throughout school with music provided from K-7 and through student choir and Grade 7 band
- Annual intermediate concert in Spring celebrates the theme of social responsibility
- Organization of the first school-wide carnival by the PAC to create greater community involvement and support
- Selected school for the the district iBook project
