Humanities

Humanities  is a year-long program that integrates English  and Socials Studies . In this course, students learn the content and skills of both English and Socials Studies; however lessons are organized and presented differently. Some lessons and units are integrated while others are developed separately to enhance learning and understanding in both subject areas.

Humanities  develops competencies in the skills of reading, viewing, writing, representing, speaking, listening, and research through the study of literature, geography, history and current events.  It also stresses independent and active learning through cooperative and collaborative learning, critical thinking, and creative problem solving. Humanities also aims to develop students’ understanding of people’s interactions with their physical, social and literary environments.
