Ms. Hurtubise created primary and intermediate summer reading bingo sheets for all Mustangs. On the primary sheet, students need to read 25 books over the course of the summer. Intermediate students need to complete two rows. They can either email a picture of the sheet to Hurtubise_n@surreyschools.ca or bring it back in September. Then one day in September, all bingo winners will get a cool treat. 

Summer reading is important for children to retain knowledge and skills learned in the previous school year. Children who read throughout the summer beat the summer slide (Quinn & Polikoff, 2017; Kuhfeld, 2019). When they select reading materials themselves and read for enjoyment, children increase their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammatical development.
