Programs

David Brankin Elementary is the site of three programs.

Neighbourhood Program

This is a regular K-7 program. Students can register at any time. New Kindergarten registration begins in January.

Intensive Arts Program

This program integrates the four areas of the arts – visual, music, drama, and dance – into all curriculum areas. The program strives to create a stimulating and culturally enriched learning environment where the arts are the lens through which other subjects are accessed. Gr. 1-7 students can be registered at any time. K students registration is in January and is filled through a lottery system. Space is limited. A waitlist is maintained.

Intensive Intervention Program

This program provides services to students with multiple disabilities and extremely complex medical/health needs. Students considered for placement in this program have demonstrated that they require a more structured setting and more intensive support than can be provided at their neighborhood school. Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are developed to meet each student’s individual functional academic and life skills goals. Students can be registered int this program via a district referral process through their home school. Space is limited. A waitlist is maintained.

Choice Programs
The Surrey School District offers several "Programs of Choice" that provide unique settings for students.

School Meal Programs
Each school day, the Surrey School Meal Programs strive to feed as many children as possible a nutritious meal. Without this food, these students might otherwise go hungry. Research has clearly shown children who have enough food to eat learn better and are healthier.

Aboriginal Programs
The Aboriginal Department supports school initiatives that focus on Aboriginal culture.  The goal of this support is to increase Aboriginal content into the curriculum in a way that benefits all students.

Safe Schools
The Surrey School District is committed to providing safe and caring environments in which all learners can achieve academic excellence, personal growth and responsible citizenship.
