Learner Support Team (LST)
Learning Support Team (LST) program is designed to provide in-class & tutorial support to all students in academic courses who are struggling to meet the course objectives.
The LST model recognizes that it is in the best interests of students that educators work together by systematically coordinating their efforts & expertise to enhance student achievement. The LST works classroom teachers to identify, plan, teach & access students with learning needs.
English Language Learning (ELL) services are available to students who are new to Canada & need to build their English skills in order to find academic success.
Students new to Canada complete Assessments at the Welcome Centre before registering at Tamanawis. These tests help determine the placement of our ELL students, into one of these areas . . .
DIRECT students: take 1+ ELL courses that build English skills. These courses include Language Development & Academic Language Building. Other ELL courses focus on Writing or Reading strategies.
INDIRECT students: do not enroll in ELL classes but are monitored by a case manager & are offered individual tutoring, classroom adaptations & extra time and a separate setting in order to complete assignments or tests
