Important Safety Reminder: Student Scooter Use
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to bring to your attention a concerning matter that has been reported recently regarding student behavior on and around our school grounds.
Several reports have come in about students riding scooters dangerously traveling at high speeds and weaving through car traffic in and around the school and on the surrounding streets. This behavior is not only unsafe but puts students, drivers, and pedestrians at serious risk of injury.
We understand that scooters are a popular and convenient way for students to get to and from school. However, safety must always come first. Riding recklessly, especially in areas with vehicle traffic, increases the likelihood of accidents that could lead to severe harm.
We kindly ask parents and guardians to have a conversation with your child about responsible scooter use, emphasizing the importance of:
- Riding at safe speeds
- Riding with only one person on each scooter
- Staying in designated areas away from moving cars
- Always being aware of their surroundings
- Wearing helmets and protective gear
Please note that the school is not responsible for the use, supervision, or safety of scooters before, during or after school hours. We encourage families to ensure that students lock their scooters up during the day.
Our school is committed to providing a safe environment for all students, and we appreciate your support in reinforcing these important safety practices at home.
Thank you for helping keep our students safe!
