Volunteering in School or Driving on Field Trips
The Ministry of Education and Childcare has mandated that school district's move forward with new regulations regarding volunteering in school and driving on field trips.
All volunteers who are responsible for volunteering with groups of students with the potential for unsupervised access to minors will now be required to complete a Criminal record check (CRC). There is a link to the form in the "Volunteer Information Package" below. The form is sent to the district's HR department who will forward the request to the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP). It does not go to the school.
All volunteers who will drive a student in a vehicle will be required to complete the Criminal record check (CRC) and obtain a driver's abstract. The abstract must be submitted to the office for review by the principal or vice principal. The link to complete the driver's abstract can be found below.
The above documents must be submitted to the office a minimum of two weeks in advance of your child’s field trip or extracurricular activity. Administration needs time to review application forms, ensure criminal record checks are “cleared”, and driver's abstracts are “normal”. Staff also need time to make alternative arrangements if we do not have enough drivers with supporting documents.
*Please note, we cannot accept forms the morning of a scheduled field trip or extracurricular activity*
Please read the Volunteer Information Package below to support you with this process.
