Surrey Schools celebrates school leaders on Principals & Vice-Principals Appreciation Day!
The first of May is Principals & Vice-Principals Appreciation Day, a day to celebrate our school leadership for the work they do throughout the year for students, staff and parents throughout the district.
We hope our students and staff take time today, and every day, to acknowledge the importance of our administrators, who guide our schools year after year and ensure they remain safe and healthy learning environments for our students and staff.
“On behalf of the board, we want to thank all of our principals and vice-principals for their dedicated leadership of each and every one of our schools,” said Gary Tymoschuk, Chair of the Surrey Board of Education. “Their life experience, management skills and sense of compassion provide our school communities with the guidance they need to face challenges through the school year, and we wish to celebrate them for all that they do.”
“Our principals and vice-principals are committed to creating welcoming school environments and inclusive learning opportunities to help all of our students excel,” said Supt. Mark Pearmain. “It is our hope that these school leaders feel valued, honoured and recognized for the outstanding work they do and continue to do throughout the school year.”
With 105 elementary schools, 21 secondary schools and four learning centres, the district has hundreds of principals and vice-principals who oversee day-to-day operations at our schools. From students entering their first day of kindergarten to Grade 12s looking ahead to post-secondary life, our school leaders are a driving force in the lives of our more than 83,000 students throughout Surrey, White Rock and Barnston Island.
We encourage all of our students, staff and families to show their principals and vice-principals gratitude every day – whether it’s a wave or smile in the hallway, making a card or just saying thank you! We know they will appreciate it!
For all the work that you do, principals and vice-principals, thank you for your ongoing efforts at all of our schools!
