Surrey & White Rock students deck the halls and give back this holiday season!
The new year is almost here, and as we ring in 2025, we’d like to take a look back at how the holiday spirit filled the halls of elementary and secondary schools throughout Surrey and White Rock!
From decorations to donations, here are just a few things students and staff did to celebrate the season!
Mrs. Ladhar’s kindergarten class at Colebrook Elementary got artsy for the holidays, filling an entire bulletin board with drawings of reindeer and gingerbread men with candy canes.
Ray Shepherd Elementary held its student-led holiday craft fair, and Lena Shaw Elementary is currently in its holiday spirit week: Red & Green Day on Monday, Winter Hat Day on Tuesday, Sparkle Day on Wednesday, Festive Sweater Day on Thursday and Pajama Day on Friday.
Crescent Park Elementary students spread an important holiday message – don’t drink and drive this festive season – as they participated in ICBC’s Think of Me campaign, an annual campaign in which students draw anti-impaired driving messages on paper bags that are distributed at BC Liquor Stores over the holidays.
Get out of my swamp! The École Panorama Ridge Secondary student council Shrek’d the Halls with decorations from everyone’s favourite green ogre! There’s Donkey, Fiona and Lord Farquaad, Puss in Boots, even the Gingerbread Man! And his gumdrop buttons!
Humanities students at Guildford Park Secondary helped out at the Surrey Christmas Bureau, and woodworking students designed and donated doll cribs for the bureau to distribute.
Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary held its annual Hamper Drive, collecting donations for the Cloverdale Community Kitchen. The Hamper Drive is an important traditions for the Cloverdale secondary school and showcases the social responsibility and citizenship of students. Panther Pride!
Grandview Heights Secondary hosted its Polar Pop Up event, raising money and gathering donations for the Surrey Food Bank, while nearby Earl Marriott Secondary hosted its annual Winter Coat Drive, gathering used coats and boots for those in need of winter clothing.
So many of our school communities do amazing charitable work during the holidays, and we thank all of them for their kindness, thoughtfulness and selflessness in this season of giving. Thank you for all that you do!
