The district is celebrating Principals & Vice-Principals Appreciation Day, recognizing our school administrators for their leadership and guidance.

Today (Monday, May 1) is Principals & Vice-Principals Appreciation Day, a day to celebrate our school leaders for the work they do 365 days a year for students, staff and parents throughout the district.

We hope our students and staff take some time today to acknowledge the importance of our administrators, who lead our schools year after year and ensure they remain safe and healthy learning environments for our students and staff.

“Today, and every day, we wish to recognize all of our principals and vice-principals for their leadership at all of our schools,” said Gary Tymoschuk, Vice-Chair of the Surrey Board of Education. “Our students, teachers and support staff rely on their management skills, experience and compassion to guide our school communities through the successes and challenges of each and every school year.”

“Our principals and vice-principals are committed to ensuring positive and inclusive learning experiences and welcoming environments for all of our students,” added Supt. Mark Pearmain. “We hope that our principals and vice-principals feel valued for the remarkable work they continue to do every day.”

With 103 elementary schools, 21 secondary schools and five learning centres, the district has hundreds of principals and vice-principals who oversee day-to-day operations at our schools. From students entering their first day of kindergarten to Grade 12s looking ahead to post-secondary life, our school leaders are a driving force in the lives of our more than 77,000 students throughout Surrey, White Rock and Barnston Island.

We encourage all of our students and staff to show their principals and vice-principals appreciation every day – whether it’s a wave in the hallway, making a card or just saying thank you! We know they will appreciate it!

For all the work that you do, principals and vice-principals, thank you for your ongoing efforts at all of our schools!
